It's been a great summer for some lovely local businesses, beginning with local opticians Haine & Smith. They celebrated an epic 40 years in business - and never has there been more need for celebratory corporate cakes! Haine & Smith has 40 practices dotted in and around Wiltshire, and each practice got a cake with their name on it, starting with Regent Street, Swindon.
This week I'm embracing the rural-ness of where I live - Wiltshire - and I'm very excited to be involved in an Open Farm Sunday at the fab local Gable End Farm, in Grittenham, Chippenham (not far at all from Royal Wootton Bassett). So to begin the embracing, I got some eggs - laid by their lovely flock of free range hens.
So the Business Show Swindon 2015 at STEAM has just been and gone - and what a show! My aim was to bring my world of branded cakes into the ideal setting of a business event - displaying some of my lovely local corporate clients as typical examples of how you can represent your business brand with cupcakes.
Firstly, I'd like to just point out that this is surely the best placement ever of a sign starting with hunger...
It's been almost a year since Little Miss Cake Maker became a full time business, so although I'm a little early with this, it seemed the right time to post as it's the start of a brand new year! What better time to review 2014 than now, right?
Such a rollercoaster of a year, and it's incredible how much you can forget while you're caught up in the action - so I'd encourage any business owner (or anyone for that matter) to take a little time out to look back at their past year and highlight all the good stuff you accomplished, no matter how small those things may be.
Little Miss Cake Maker is officially open for business!
My lovely home page will be transforming very soon into my new and exciting e-commerce website. The blog will still be up and running and easy to find, so if you're a follower or fan and aren't interested in buying stuff, don't despair! If anything, I'm hoping I'll now be able to update the blog more than ever, and share a wider range of creative experimental baking with you :)
Shoppity shop can be found at shop.littlemisscakemaker.com so take a look - it's been intentionally created to be as fun as possible to shop through, and there is SO much development still happening behind the scenes. Many more decorative themes to add to the range you see there - but please send me a message if you have any suggestions or would like something in particular that you don't see already! It's very exciting to be able to share my cakes and creative ideas with you all even more! Email firstname.lastname@example.org
So I'm hoping that by now you've come across Cakeopoly, as it's been a few weeks since I threw it out there to the public and ended up winning my first ever baking competition (Star Baker prize for the Faringdon Bake Off). While I've mentioned Cakeopoly in previous posts, I felt it deserved a special post of it's own, so I can show you the process I went through to make these super cute cupcakes! Continue reading
In my previous post last weekend, I presented my winning 'Cakeopoly' cupcakes and 'show-stopper' Magic Roundabout cake. There will be another lovely post to follow, all about the awesomeness that is 'Cakeopoly', but as I'm on the verge of opening my very exciting online cake shop for the people of Swindon (and hopefully eventually the nation!), I wanted to show you the Magic Roundabout cake properly, so here it is! Until this weekend, I'd never entered a baking competition before. I've been baking and sharing my cakes with friends, family and co-workers for a couple of years, but complete strangers judging my cakes was totally new territory - I had no idea how good or average they tasted to someone that didn't 'have' to like it. Continue reading
