"A party without cake is just a meeting", stated the legendary Julia Child. If you're vegan, or simply intolerant to dairy, you'll need a cake at your wedding or special occasion as much as anyone else. I may have expressed before how passionate I am about ensuring that anyone can 'have their cake & eat it', regardless of allergies or dietary needs.
For that reason, I don't charge a penny extra to anyone ordering custom cakes with special dietary requirements at Little Miss Cake Maker, meaning that a 'FreeFrom' cake costs no more than my everyday cakes, and the same goes for corporate cakes and wedding cakes. So this brings me to share my vegan friendly, dairy free sponge cake recipe, which is originally sourced from the Food Network.
It's been a great summer for some lovely local businesses, beginning with local opticians Haine & Smith. They celebrated an epic 40 years in business - and never has there been more need for celebratory corporate cakes! Haine & Smith has 40 practices dotted in and around Wiltshire, and each practice got a cake with their name on it, starting with Regent Street, Swindon.
Love is in the air as it's Valentine's Day here in the UK, so I thought I'd give you something amazing to fall in love with... Guinness Chocolate Cake.
If you like Guinness, like chocolate, and like cake... you will LOVE this!
It's been almost a year since Little Miss Cake Maker became a full time business, so although I'm a little early with this, it seemed the right time to post as it's the start of a brand new year! What better time to review 2014 than now, right?
Such a rollercoaster of a year, and it's incredible how much you can forget while you're caught up in the action - so I'd encourage any business owner (or anyone for that matter) to take a little time out to look back at their past year and highlight all the good stuff you accomplished, no matter how small those things may be.
When I get awesome requests to make cakes that look like pizza, it completely reassures me that quitting my day job was the right thing to do. Along with the burger cakes, this has been my favourite cake to bring to life - I haven't had an excuse to do this before but did get close with my flapjack pizza... Continue reading
Since I began my venture to bring the Little Miss Cake Maker shop to life, I've been looking, searching, trawling around for the best suppliers for various things. One of these things was of course sprinkles. Such a teeny weeny thing that makes a cupcake that little bit more awesome.
Little Miss Cake Maker is officially open for business!
My lovely home page will be transforming very soon into my new and exciting e-commerce website. The blog will still be up and running and easy to find, so if you're a follower or fan and aren't interested in buying stuff, don't despair! If anything, I'm hoping I'll now be able to update the blog more than ever, and share a wider range of creative experimental baking with you :)
Shoppity shop can be found at shop.littlemisscakemaker.com so take a look - it's been intentionally created to be as fun as possible to shop through, and there is SO much development still happening behind the scenes. Many more decorative themes to add to the range you see there - but please send me a message if you have any suggestions or would like something in particular that you don't see already! It's very exciting to be able to share my cakes and creative ideas with you all even more! Email firstname.lastname@example.org
In my previous post last weekend, I presented my winning 'Cakeopoly' cupcakes and 'show-stopper' Magic Roundabout cake. There will be another lovely post to follow, all about the awesomeness that is 'Cakeopoly', but as I'm on the verge of opening my very exciting online cake shop for the people of Swindon (and hopefully eventually the nation!), I wanted to show you the Magic Roundabout cake properly, so here it is! Until this weekend, I'd never entered a baking competition before. I've been baking and sharing my cakes with friends, family and co-workers for a couple of years, but complete strangers judging my cakes was totally new territory - I had no idea how good or average they tasted to someone that didn't 'have' to like it. This little blog of mine is officially 1 year old today, and how could I celebrate better than sharing cake with you all?!
Christmas is long gone and it's almost too late to start wishing people a Happy New Year by now, but we've still got box fulls of chocolates left over from Christmas. That's not to say that I don't love chocolates, because I do, and I've been devouring as many as possible every evening. However, we did get a LOT for Christmas to add to the stash we had already bought. So I've created the perfect way to get rid of them, in the tastiest, most enjoyable way possible. Continue reading
