Guinness Chocolate Cake

Guinness 8 bit Heart Cake

Cake ingredients:

  • 250g butter
  • 400g dark muscovado sugarĀ 
  • 200ml Guinness
  • 75g cocoa powder
  • 125ml sour cream
  • 2 eggs
  • 275g self raising flour
  • 1tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp bicarbonate of soda

Preheat the oven to 180c or gas 4. Grease and line a cake tin, approx 9 inches round or 8 inches square.

Weight out the ingredients and place the butter, muscovado sugar & cocoa powder into a saucepan. Heat gradually until the butter has melted, then add the Guinness and stir. Pour the mixture into a mixing bowl.

Beat in the sour cream and the eggs, then add the flour, baking powder and bicarbonate of soda. Mix until everything in combined.

Pour mixture into the prepared cake tin and bake for approx 45 minutes.
