- 300g plain flour
- 175g brown sugar
- pinch of salt
- 200g unsalted butter
- 450g apples
- 50g brown sugar
- 1 tbsp plain flour
- pinch of ground cinnamon
Preheat the oven to 180c or gas 4.
In a large bowl, mix the flour and sugar together for the crumble. Cut the butter into cubes and add gradually, and rub it all together with your hands until it looks like breadcrumbs.
In another bowl, add your chopped apples to the sugar, flour and cinnamon for the filling. Stir it well but be careful not to mush up the fruit.
Grease up an ovenproof dish using butter (approx 9inches/24cms in size). Spoon the fruit mix into the dish and then scatter the crumble mix over that, covering completely.
Bake for 40-45 minutes in the oven - crumble will be brown and the fruit will be bubbling hot.
